Obituary

Drissell, Ruth Clare Crowe passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 24th, three hours shy of her 95th birthday.

Loving mother of David (Teresa) Drissell, Daniel (Debbie) Drissell, the late Darrell (Kathy) Drissell, Diane (Ken) Knierim, Donald (Tracy) Drissell, and Debbie (Jeff) Powell; dear Grandmommy of 18 and Great-Grandmommy of 21. She is survived by her sister, Carol (Ray) Ruffatti. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Drissell; her son, Darrell Drissell; her granddaughter, Natalee Drissell; her brother, Fletcher Crowe; and her sisters, Mary Crowe and Virginia Holifield.

Ruth was born on February 25, 1931, in Muskogee, OK, to Fletcher Standefer Crowe and Virginia Whitener Crowe. As the daughter of a Methodist minister, she spent her childhood making wonderful memories in Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri, as her father served congregations throughout the region.

Ruth attended Central Methodist College, where she met Norm. They were married in a double wedding ceremony in Poplar Bluff, MO, on August 25, 1951, alongside her sister. Their father officiated the wedding. Ruth and Norm enjoyed 64 years together until Norm's passing on November 9, 2015.

Ruth was involved with numerous groups and activities including The United Methodist Church, Bible Study Fellowship, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, NOMADS in Missions, bridge groups, pickleball, and the Innsbrook community where she played golf and tennis and hosted many gatherings and bible studies.

Ruth was a wonderful and devoted mother who took great joy in dressing her family in matching outfits. She loved roses, all things purple, and especially her twice-daily servings of ice cream.

Ruth and Norm enjoyed spending time on Captiva Island, Florida as well as traveling the country & world, including RV trips to Canada and Central & South America. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but they take comfort in her strong faith in Christ and life eternal. Her love, warmth, and cheerful spirit will be remembered always.

Services: A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Ruth would want you to go out and treat your family to ice cream! If desired, memorial gifts can be made to Central Methodist University, www.givetocentral.org or Living Word United Methodist Church, www.livingwordumc.org .

As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
