Ruth D.
Divalerio (Nee O'Brien)
Jan 25, 1933 — Aug 2, 2026
Chesterfield
Ruth D. DiValerio (nee O'Brien) age 93, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. Born on January 25, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ruth lived a life filled with love, laughter, family, and unforgettable memories.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rinaldo Dominic DiValerio, and her parents, Michael O'Brien and Katherine (Tynan) O'Brien.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children: Michaela (Tom) Vita, Dean (Lisa Voci) DiValerio, Eileen (Ray & stepson Matt) Tucke, Kelley DiValerio-Gonzalez, and Shannon DiValerio.
Ruth was a proud and devoted grandmother to Colleen McCoy, Ashley Maclin, Capri (John) Simon, Dina (Derek) McKinley, and Frankie (Jesse) Sataloff. She was blessed with five cherished great-grandchildren: Kaia Boyle, Nico McKinley, Leo McKinley, Amelia Ruth Sataloff, and Annie Lois Sataloff.
Growing up, some of Ruth's happiest memories were made with her sisters (Mary & Alice) in Wildwood along the Jersey Shore, where she spent carefree summers as a young girl. The beach always held a special place in her heart, and those treasured days remained among her fondest memories throughout her life.
Professionally, Ruth worked in real estate before dedicating herself to caring for others as a caregiver. She had a generous heart and found great fulfillment in helping those in need, offering compassion, comfort, and kindness to everyone whose lives she touched.
Ruth had a lifelong love of horses. Whether admiring them, talking about them, or simply enjoying anything associated with them, horses brought her endless joy and remained one of her greatest passions. She especially enjoyed the pomp and circumstance of the Kentuck Derby!
She was also an enthusiastic football fan. Her love of the game began while cheering on her son, Dean, during his youth football days and enjoyed watching him play through college. That passion only grew stronger when her daughter, Eileen, attended the University of Miami, where Ruth became a proud and extremely diehard Hurricanes football fan. Saturdays during football season were among her favorite times of the year, and she cheered for the Canes with unwavering enthusiasm and passion.
Anyone who knew Ruth knew she had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. She was an incredible storyteller who could captivate a room with tales that were equal parts heartfelt and hilarious. Blessed with a quick wit and an infectious laugh, Ruth was the life of every party. Her warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel like an old friend, and she had a remarkable way of bringing people together. She was deeply loved by so many and leaves behind countless stories that her family and friends will cherish forever.
Ruth also had a beautiful singing voice and a lifelong love of music. She was often found singing around the house, filling every room with melodies that became part of the soundtrack of family life. Whether she was humming a favorite tune while going about her day or breaking into song and dance just because the moment felt right, her voice brought warmth, joy, and comfort to those around her. Her family will forever remember the happiness she shared through music and the way her songs made a house feel like home.
Above all, Ruth's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, resilience, laughter, and countless treasured memories. Her kindness, generosity, vibrant spirit, and unmistakable personality will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Ruth will be profoundly missed but forever remembered with smiles, laughter, and gratitude for the extraordinary life she lived.
GOODNIGHT RUTH!
