Samuel G.
"Trey" Stein Iii
Feb 26, 1966 — Nov 26, 2025
Wildwood
Stein III, Samuel G. "Trey", passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the age of 59.
Loving husband of Carrie B. Stein (nee Brown). Dear father of Sam (Catrina Salama) Stein, Spencer (Maddy) Stein and Bailey (Bram) Stein. Grandfather to be of Desmond and Baby Bud. Brother of Andrew (Connie Merseal) Stein and the late Lindsay Rodgers. Brother-in-law of Richard Rodgers, Bradley (Dana) Brown, Victoria (the late Michael) Schubert. Uncle of Tyler, Tiffany, Trey, Cameron, Morgan and Selinda.
Trey Stein was one of a kind. He lived with a rare blend of strength, humor, generosity, and warmth, and anyone lucky enough to know him felt it immediately. Trey had a straight talking, no nonsense way about him, shaped by decades spent in the home improvement industry. He brought that job site clarity to every conversation: honest, direct, and sometimes paired with a joke that might make you blush but always left people laughing.
Despite that tough and practical exterior, Trey carried himself with a gentleness and kindness that made people feel safe and valued. It was impossible to know Trey and not walk away feeling like he had given you more than you gave him.
To his family, Trey was the steady center of their world. To his friends, many of whom quietly thought of him as their very best friend, he was loyal, dependable, and fiercely protective. And in true Trey fashion, he never made any one person feel more important than another. He had a gift for making people feel like they mattered, because to him, they genuinely did.
His children and loved ones describe him as selfless, giving, hilarious, kind, loving, lovable, smart, hardworking, faithful, positive, determined, and strong. These are the real words they chose, the qualities they saw lived out in him every day. Trey made the world better simply by being in it, and the people who loved him count themselves blessed to have shared their lives with him.
Above all else, Trey was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Carrie, shared 36 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and partnership. He leaves behind Carrie and their three children, Sam, Spencer, and Bailey, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was their protector, their encourager, and their example of what it means to love our people fiercely.
Trey was preceded in death by his parents, Connie L. (nee Geuin) and Samuel G. Stein, Jr., who he loved and honored throughout his life.
Trey's legacy is not measured in titles or accolades. It is measured in the countless lives he touched, the friendships he built, the laughter he sparked, and the love he gave freely and without condition. He will be remembered with gratitude, missed with heartbreak, and honored with every story told by those who are better because they knew him.
