Sandra "Sandy" Venezia Crowell

Sandra “Sandy” Venezia Crowell, age 69, of Chesterfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 23, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Sandy grew up in Ladue, Missouri, and attended Ladue Horton Watkins High School. Before becoming a mother, she worked as a court reporter alongside her father, Peter Venezia. But her greatest calling and deepest passion was always her family.

Sandy was, first and foremost, a mother. She embraced that role with her whole heart and was the very best mom her children could have asked for. She was always there, no matter what, and her children’s biggest cheerleader through every season of life. Her love showed up in countless ways: a homemade meal always ready, a phone she would answer no matter the hour, and the kind of thoughtful advice that only a mom can give. She had a gift for making her children feel supported, understood, and unconditionally loved.

She leaves behind her beloved children: her son, Jonathan (Nicole) Crowell, and grandsons Chase and Landon; her daughter, Katie (Matt) Hundt; and her daughter, Ali (Mike) Bieg, and grandchildren Nick and Ella. Her family was her greatest joy and the center of her world.

Sandy had a generous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and an ability to find laughter in everyday life. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and loved gathering family and friends around her table. Her home was a place of comfort, connection, and unconditional love. If you stayed late enough, she would inevitably offer you a cup of tea and her very best company. She was always listening, always offering a compliment, and always ready to share a chuckle over the little details and funny nuances in a story. She made people feel special simply by being herself.

A woman of faith, Sandy dedicated many years to volunteering and serving at St. Clare of Assisi. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in beautifying the church grounds as well as her own home. She also loved to read and could often be found completely absorbed in a book, wandering around with her nose in its pages and laughing at whatever she was reading. In her free time, she enjoyed frequent trips to the casino with her sister and brother-in-law. She also took great pride in her handheld poker machine and may very well have held the highest score ever.

Sandy leaves behind her sister, Debbie (Danny) Abbenhaus, and her brother, Larry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Lorraine Venezia; her brother, John Venezia; and her sister, Tina Perniciaro.

Above all, Sandy will be remembered for her enormous, generous, and loving heart. Family was everything to her, and she spent her life making sure the people she loved knew it. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, the laughter she shared, and the countless ways she made others feel cared for.

If Sandy could leave us with one final wish, it would be that we love one another as she loved us-with open hearts, without conditions, and without hesitation. May we honor her by carrying that love forward, finding joy in the everyday moments, and always making room for one more person at the table.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
