Obituary

Sharon Jean (Kampmeinert) McGauly, born on July 7, 1941, passed away on August 24, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, relative, and friend whose warmth, pride, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Michael McGauly; her daughter, Kim Jakovich, and Kim's husband, Frank; and her granddaughter, Hayley (Jakovich) Curran, and Hayley's husband, Bryce. Hayley, whom Sharon affectionately called "punkin," was truly the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Dorothy Kampmeinert; her brother, Donald Kampmeinert; and Donald's wife, Jacque Kampmeinert.

Sharon also leaves behind many loved ones, including cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to share in her life.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Sharon graduated from Beaumont High School and went on to Deaconess Nursing School, where she prepared for a career devoted to caring for others.

After beginning her career as a registered nurse in both hospital and private physician office settings, Sharon returned to school and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Home Administration from Lindenwood University. She spent several years serving residents in long-term care communities before retiring from BJC Health System.

Sharon and Mike moved to Fenton in 1999 to be closer to their granddaughter in Eureka. Prior to that, they made their homes in St. Charles and Florissant, Missouri.

Sharon was incredibly proud of her accomplishments as an RN and loved sharing stories from her years in nursing. Her professional life reflected her compassion, strength, and commitment to helping others.

Above all, Sharon's greatest joy was her family, especially Hayley. She cherished every opportunity to be part of Hayley's life-from joining school field trips when Hayley was young, to watching her play sports as she grew up, to cheering her on from the sidelines of the soccer field throughout high school and college. Being part of Hayley and Bryce's wedding in May was the absolute highlight of Sharon's most recent years.

Sharon will be remembered for her love of family, her pride in her nursing career, and the many meaningful memories she created with those closest to her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of the family and friends who loved her dearly.
