Shawn Wania (nee McCarthy)

Shawn Marie Wania, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2022 at the age of 58. Beloved mother of Sarah (DeeJay) Brobston and Michael (Brittany Schweiger) Wania. Beloved grandmother of Vail Brobston, Beckett Brobston and Jackson Wania. Beloved sister of Maura (William) Taylor, Erin (Harry) Smelcer, Patrick (Michelle) McCarthy, Kelly McCarthy and former spouse, Edward Wania.

Shawn is gone too soon and will be deeply missed.

Shawn was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 7, 1963. She attended Parkway North High School and was very active in theater. She had a deep love for the arts and music. From high school and beyond she starred in plays across St. Louis from DeSmet High School, to the Muny and the Goldenrod Showboat. She continued to share her beautiful voice with her family and friends throughout the years, and with her grandchildren through sweet lullabies.

Shawn was an animal lover. Her first 'grand babies' were her children's dogs, Cali and Cami and she adored her two cats Chance and Capri.

She was the best mother. While she will be missed, she will not be forgotten.

Mother, you were just a girl,
So many years ago.
You had your loves and had your dreams,
You watched us come and go.
You watched us make the same mistakes,
That you had made before,
But that just made you hold us tight,
And love us all the more.
We haven't always thought about
The things that you have seen.
To us you've just been 'Mother',
No thought of who you've been.
But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we're just glad we knew you,
As Mother, and as Friend.

Services: Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Friday, April 29, 2022, 11:00 am until time of the service 1:00 p.m. Interment Private.
