Shirley Lemoine
(Née Wilkerson)
Sep 28, 1949 — Jun 17, 2026
Manchester
Shirley Lemoine (née Wilkerson) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Shirley and Tempa Wilkerson. She attended Turner Grammar School and graduated from Glencliff High School before pursuing her nursing education at the Roper Hospital School of Practical Nursing.
On May 25, 1968, Shirley married the love of her life, David Earl Lemoine of Alexandria, Louisiana. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service, sharing 58 years of marriage.
Shirley dedicated much of her professional life to health care. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at St. Luke's Hospital and later retired from the hospital's Brain and Spine Center. Her commitment to helping others and her attention to detail made a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
A faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park, Missouri, Shirley generously shared her time and talents by teaching Parish School of Religion. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
Shirley was an avid cross-stitcher and quilter whose beautiful handiwork reflected both her creativity and patience. She found joy in crafting treasured gifts for family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Above all, Shirley will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her wittiness, kindness, unwavering love, and generous spirit touched countless lives and left a legacy that will endure for generations.
She is survived by her loving husband, David E. Lemoine; her children, Joseph E. Lemoine, Aimee L. (Joseph) Huff, Richard D. (Rebecca) Lemoine, and Sarah E. (Travis) Layton; and her cherished grandchildren, Madison Huff, Keira Lemoine, Sophia Lemoine, Gunner Layton, Kimber Layton, and Remi Layton. She is also survived by her sister, Tempa W. Martin; her sister-in-law, Susan G. (Gary) Wagers; and beloved niece, nephew, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Tempa Wilkerson; her brothers-in-law, Jay P. Martin and Wayne Lemoine; and her nephew, William Martin.
Shirley's family finds comfort in the memories she created, the faith she lived, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
