Obituary

Stephen Kelly Vogler, known to most as Steve, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2026, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, at the age of 64.

Steve was the son of Thomas and Barbara Vogler, born March 15th, 1962. He grew up spending summers at Table Rock Lake and Lake of the Ozarks, where he was happiest behind the wheel of a boat, teaching friends how to water ski and fishing. Steve attended Christian Brothers College High School, where he was no stranger to the football field, the high school band, and ROTC. Steve even graced the stage as Big Jule in CBC's production of Guys & Dolls.

After graduating from CBC, Steve pursued his passion for computers and began his career at SSM Health, where he dedicated the next 42 years of his professional life. Working in Information Technology, he played an important role in the growth and development of the department and eventually became a Senior Storage Administrator. Steve took great pride in solving problems and helping others, and there was little he enjoyed more than finding a solution when one seemed impossible.

Steve's interests evolved throughout his life, reflecting his endless curiosity and enthusiasm. In his younger years, he enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, music, and cooking. Later, he developed a passion for civil war history, antique cars, firearms, and collecting timepieces. One of his greatest joys was attending car shows with his beloved 1958 Chevrolet, affectionately named "Barbara Ann" after both his mother and the classic Beach Boys song.

Steve is survived by his wife, Michele Houghton Vogler; his children, Patrick and Caitlin Vogler; his sister, Susan Teresa Vogler-Wesp; his uncle, Fr. John Vogler; and his nephews Brendan Wesp (Jasmine) and Sean Wesp (Kate). He was also deeply loved by his extended family, including his Hemenway in-laws and many nieces, nephews, and great-nephews, who cherished his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and the warm chuckle that always followed a well-timed joke.

Those who knew Steve will remember his remarkable knowledge, unwavering loyalty, generous spirit, and steadfast love for his family. He was someone people could always count on for help, advice, or laughter. While his absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory, his stories, and the love he shared will remain in their hearts forever.

In honor of Steve's love of good stories, laughter, and friendship, family and friends are invited to gather at Llwelyn's Pub - Webster Groves, on September 19th  from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. to celebrate his life.
