Steven E.
Hagemann
Dec 25, 1952 — Jun 18, 2026
Wildwood
Hagemann, Steven E. 73. It is with profound love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
He was born on December 25, 1952, in St. Louis, to parents Elmer and Frances (nee Meyer) Hagemann. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sharon "Midge".
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; two beautiful granddaughters, Josie and Sophia; daughters Shannon (Tommy) Booth and Jessica (Mark) Karpinski; sisters Cynthia Shelton and Kim (Mark) Terrill; stepchildren Amber (Mike) Wilson, Heather Davis and Chance Davis.
Steve was a true man of faith, an active and devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wildwood. He would never miss a service if he was able, often noting that if he missed church, he felt off all week. He lived his life with a deep trust in God, reciting the Serenity Prayer every single day to center himself. He was also a member of the SAR Spirit of St. Louis Chapter and a 54-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 513.
He absolutely loved what he did, building a respectful legacy as a second-generation excavator operator, a true master of his craft. However, it was his gentle heart and radiant positivity that truly shaped the lives of his family. He always looked for the good in every situation and brought light into every room he entered.
Above all, his family was his greatest pride, his deepest joy, and the absolute center of his world. To them, he was the ultimate husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who cherished nothing more than gathering everyone together around the dinner table. As a dad, he believed dinner time was sacred and was always a big proponent of cooking for his loved ones, taking special pride in his Thanksgiving feasts. To his friends, he was a loyal companion who was always there-a reliable presence with a helping hand. To his daughters, Shannon and Jess, he was a hero, a mentor, and a rock who provided unwavering advice and steady support. To his granddaughters, Josie and Sophia, 'Papa' Steve was simply the best. He was a constant source of strength who fiercely believed they could achieve anything, always offering the perfect words of wisdom when they needed them most. His legacy of love, strength, and encouragement will live on in them forever.
