Thomas Joseph
Berra
Mar 2, 1942 — Apr 6, 2026
Chesterfield
Thomas Joseph Berra, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a life well lived.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Eleanor Berra (Lechman), with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love, friendship, and adventure.
Tom also is survived by his son, Tom Berra Jr. (Lisa); his grandchildren, Dominic Berra (Caroline), Michael Berra (Madeline), and Melina Berra; and his great-grandson, Angelo Berra. Preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Margaret Berra.
Tom enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance industry, including more than 30 years as a partner at the Crane Agency, where he also served on the Board of Directors. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.
The greatest joy of Tom's life was his family, especially his beloved wife, Eleanor. Together, they shared a passion for fine wine, exceptional food, and travel. They explored the world both on their own and with a close-knit group of dear friends. Among their many adventures were attending the Grand Prix of Monaco and sailing the Mediterranean, but their most treasured destination was Paris. They returned often, and one of their greatest traditions was taking each grandchild to Paris on their 15th birthday.
Tom was a devoted father who always made his son a priority. Tom Jr. was blessed with a father who was consistently present, supportive, and proud. Following in his father's footsteps, Tom Jr. joined the insurance industry, and together they shared not only a profession, but years of working and enjoying life side by side until Tom Sr.'s retirement. The love of family and friends was the greatest gift he passed on.
His grandchildren were truly the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them: watching them grow, cheering them on in sports, traveling together, and sharing life's experiences. He took great joy in introducing them to the finer things in life, including a shared appreciation for good food (and even escargot). More than anything, he was present for the moments that mattered most.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Family Care Partners, who cared for Tom in his final years with extraordinary kindness, dignity, and love. We are forever grateful for the comfort and support they provided. We also wish to thank Solace Hospice for ensuring his final days were peaceful and comfortable.
Tom's life was defined by his love for his family, his friendships, and his ability to fully enjoy the moments that mattered most. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
