Tien-Ling
Chen
Jul 6, 1960 — Sep 21, 2025
Valley Park
With deep love and sorrow, the family of Tien-Ling Chen announces her passing on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Tien-Ling was the treasured wife of Chih Liang Tsui, the devoted mother of Jessica and Howard, Mother in law of Brian Chan and Abby Peng, and the adoring grandmother of Skylar, Connor, and Leora. She was also a beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend whose kindness touched many lives.
Born in South Korea, Tien-Ling's journey carried her across continents-from her childhood home, to Taiwan as a young woman, and later to the United States. Each move was an act of courage, guided by her determination to create a brighter future for her family. A courageous first-generation immigrant, she built a life of resilience and generosity in St. Louis and Cahokia, where she proudly ran a small business and supported her community.
Introduced to her husband through family, Tien-Ling embraced marriage as a true partnership. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and perseverance. To her family, she was the heart of the household-always carrying burdens quietly, ensuring her loved ones had every opportunity to thrive.
Tien-Ling was the emotional cornerstone of the family. Her children loved confiding in her and sharing the little moments of their lives. She always listened patiently and offered gentle, thoughtful advice. She never insisted that they follow her opinions, but instead encouraged them to be brave and try new things-even if they failed. She would often comfort them by saying, "As long as you come home, it's okay," and then lovingly prepare a table full of delicious food, restoring their strength and peace of mind.
To her grandchildren, Tien-Ling was more than just an grandmom-she was their closest playmate and friend. She climbed on playgrounds with them, watched English cartoons by their side, and joined them in exploring the world with curiosity and wonder. Tien-Ling's love and presence will forever live on in the hearts of her family.
Tien-Ling found joy in cooking, exercising, exploring new things, family gatherings, and quiet evenings with her favorite dramas. She was a woman who found beauty in the everyday and strength in responsibility.
Tien-Ling's greatest accomplishment was her unwavering devotion to her family. She guided them across three countries, always striving to provide a better life. Her legacy lives on in the strength, success, and love of her children and grandchildren.
