Virgilio deCastro Avanzado Jr. was born on July 11th, 1964 in San Pablo, Philippines. In 1974 he immigrated to the United States with his family and lived in Brentwood, Missouri. He met the love of his life, Michelle in 1988 and they got married 6 months later in 1989. They moved to Virginia, as Virgil ventured into a promising career as a young leader in the restaurant industry. After moving back to St. Louis, they began their family with their first child Gabby. Four years later, they were blessed with twins, Tommy and Racquel. As a family, they enjoyed road tripping to Disney World, skiing, and bonding over a family meal.

Virgil owned and operated Pizza World in Maplewood, MO for 10 years. He had multiple jobs in restaurant and hospitality, but his crowning achievement was Boardwalk Pizza and Brewery. Every person who walked in through the doors of Boardwalk was treated like a friend by Virgil. He was an avid runner who ran many half and full marathons. He looked forward to many ski trips with his best friend from high school, Greg. Virgil's most recent passion was pickleball, even adding a court to his home.

Virgil was a simple and kind man whose presence was understated, but large. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his mother Ulyse Avanzado, his wife, Michelle Avanzado, his children, Gabrielle Avanzado Kukal, Virgil Thomas Avanzado, and Gina Racquel Avanzado, his siblings, Verhny Avanzado, Mary Ann Gay, and Van Allen Avanzado. He is preceded in death by his father Virgilio Avanzado Sr.
