Virginia L. Rogan

Virginia Lee Kent Rogan passed peacefully on September 21, one day before her 91st birthday. Born in Eaton, Co., she grew up in Independence, Mo., graduating from Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1953. Virginia had artistic talent, so one of her first jobs was at Russell Stover designing window and store displays for their nationwide candy stores. Over her lifetime, she painted several oil and acrylic scenes on canvas, hardboards, driftwood, and even furniture. Barns and still life images were among her favorite subjects.

She moved to St. Louis in 1964, and from her office window at U.S. Steel-Atlas Cement, watched the Arch get built. The company evolved her division into Continental Cement, where she was the sales office manager for over 20 years in Clayton, Mo. In her retirement, Virginia enjoyed partnering with her longtime friend Susan Foss to run Brocante, an antique booth in Clarksville, Mo. She and Sue also had several travel international adventures, primarily to France. A voracious reader, Virginia loved history books. An extension of her love of history was serving in volunteer leadership roles with the Bridgeton Historical Society, Old Trails Historical Society, and the Ballwin Historical Commission.

Virginia is survived by her son, Graham Todd Rogan (Lori Sullivan) of Ballwin, Mo., her twin brothers Hubert Kent (Patricia) of Liberty, Mo. and Albert Kent (Marge) of Signal Hill, Tn., and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Among her dearest survivors are Jack, Olivia and Grace Sullivan of Ballwin, who she loved as adopted grandchildren, along with their parents Jeff and Carolyn Sullivan.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thelma and O.A. "Bill" Kent, her sister Margaret Owens, and her former husband Donald Paul Rogan.

Private interment at Bethel Cemetery in Wildwood, MO.
