Wendell Gary Phillips, our dear father and devoted husband, passed away on Friday, May 29th, 2026, after a long and well-lived life of 84 years.

A father of four children, Clay, Sam, Dexter, and Cody.  His humor, even temperament, and sound judgment helped guide us through life. His devotion to his beloved wife, Karen Phillips, was unwavering.

Gary was very proud of his work as a chemist for Monsanto, where he earned the distinction of becoming a Fellow before his retirement. He approached both his work and his life with intelligence, integrity, and humility.

He believed in Christ and trusted God's grace. We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.

He was the beloved husband of Karen Arlene Phillips (née Mason). Devoted father of Clayborne (Sara) Phillips, Samuel (Laura) Phillips, Dexter Phillips, and Cody (Lance) Gibbs. Loving grandfather of Maggie, Ethan, Seth, Nora, Dean, Mason, Walker, Carson, Porter, Patrick, Gage, and Benjamin. Adored great-grandfather of Adrianna, Regina, Carla, and Julia. Caring brother of Carol Jenkins and Brian Phillips. Brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many, he also leaves behind numerous extended family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Our hearts ache with his departure, but we carry with us the memories of a life well lived and of a father whose example we can only hope to equal.

Services: A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 955 Highway 109, Wildwood, MO 63038 on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Wildwood .
