Alternative Choices
Additional Services We Offer
In addition to funeral and cremation services, Schrader Funeral Home & Crematory provides a range of other options to support families in special circumstances. Below are several of the services we offer. If you have questions or would like more information, our funeral directors are always available to help.
Forwarding of Remains
Forwarding of remains involves transporting your loved one—typically by commercial airline—to another funeral home for services and burial. In some cases, families choose to hold a visitation or ceremony here before transportation takes place.
When the destination is within approximately 200 miles, we may be able to transport the remains by vehicle. Our funeral directors will help you determine the most appropriate and cost-effective option.
International Forwarding of Remains
Transporting remains to another country requires careful coordination and detailed documentation. Each country has its own regulations and paperwork requirements, making this a complex and sometimes lengthy process. Our experienced professionals will guide you through every step to ensure all requirements are met with care and accuracy.
Receiving of Remains
We also assist families when a loved one has passed away out of the area, and the remains are being brought to us from another funeral home. Families may choose to hold a visitation and funeral service here, or opt for a simple graveside committal ceremony.
Donation of Remains to Medical School
Some individuals choose to donate their remains to a medical school to support education and research. In these cases, the remains are transferred as soon as possible after death, and no service is held with the remains present. Many families later plan a memorial gathering or celebration of life.
Typically, arrangements for donation must be made in advance and accepted by the medical school prior to death. Our funeral directors can help answer questions and provide guidance on this option.
